The police requested a video recording from a Podgorica company in order to try to determine how a shot fired from a firearm ended up inside the interior of a Podgorica resident's car. B. J.
On January 15, when this resident of the capital was leaving for work, he found a bullet in his car and damage from a gunshot on the vehicle.
The Police Directorate told "Vijesti" yesterday that the Podgorica Security Department's Duty Service was informed that day, at around 1:50 p.m., by BJ "that he had noticed damage from a projectile on his BMW vehicle with Podgorica license plates, which was located on 4 July Street."
"The prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was informed of the event, and upon his order, police officers took further measures and actions," the responses from that security institution read.
They state that, upon receiving a report, police officers from the Podgorica Security Department arrived at the scene:
“On which occasion, an on-site investigation was conducted and damage was noted to the vehicle in the left side of the trunk lid. Upon further inspection of the vehicle, a projectile of unknown brand and caliber was observed in the opening for installation cables, which was removed from the scene, while further inspection did not reveal any other damage. The found projectile was removed and sent for ballistics examination at the Forensic Center of the Police Directorate. In connection with the above, police officers prepared a report on the on-site investigation, a report on the forensic examination of the scene, as well as photo documentation.”
Responding to questions from "Vijesti", they said that their officers, after inspecting the area and the surrounding area, noticed that there was video surveillance at one business building.
"In relation to which, police officers have written to the company operating in the same area to seize the video material. The acting prosecutor will be informed of the further outcome of the police's actions, who will conduct the legal qualification of the act after completing the case file," the UP added.
Previously, they unofficially told "Vijesti" that they assumed that the vehicle was damaged during the stun gunfight on the evening of January 13th.
The Podgorica resident, however, told the newspaper that on January 14th, at around 10:30 p.m., he returned home from work and parked his car, which was not damaged, in the parking lot in front of the building where he lives, after which he went to his apartment.
"When I was leaving for work, around 1:30 p.m., I noticed a bullet hole in the roof of the car, in the back above the trunk. I immediately called the police and reported the incident," he said on the same day that a bullet awaited him in the vehicle.
He then added that he was contacted by an inspector shortly after, less than two minutes later, to whom he explained in detail what had happened. "About ten minutes later, an official vehicle arrived at the scene, and a man who introduced himself as a forensics officer conducted an on-site investigation, photographed the damage, and removed the bullet that had pierced the roof of the car and remained inside. He wrote down my personal information and said that he would contact me later. Now I am waiting for further information," BJ told "Vijesti".
This Podgorica resident appealed to citizens who own firearms to use them extremely responsibly, carefully and conscientiously.
"Instead of a car, there could have been a human in that place, and the outcome could have been tragic. Fortunately, there were no injuries in this case, but this is a serious warning of how dangerous irresponsible behavior can be," he said.
