Podgorica police arrested a minor from Tuzi after a search of the vehicle he was driving found 150 kilograms of tobacco, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
He is reportedly charged with the criminal offense of illicit trafficking.
"Police officers of the Regional Border Police Center "Centar" - Border Police Station Podgorica, in the town of Vranj, Tuzi Municipality, stopped and checked a 17-year-old minor from Tuzi, who was driving a vehicle without license plates," the UP statement said.
The police added that during a detailed inspection of the vehicle driven by the minor, police officers found 300 small paper packages containing cut tobacco, weighing about 150 kg, packed in 10 larger PVC bags and hidden in fishing nets.
"After collecting information, the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica ordered the minor to be deprived of his liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trafficking. He will be brought before the acting prosecutor today, with a criminal report, for further jurisdiction," the UP statement concluded.
