Albanian citizen ND (50) was sent to serve his sentence at the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions in Spuž because he failed to pay a fine of 1.5 thousand euros for driving under the influence of alcohol, the Budva Misdemeanor Court announced.

The court said that ND was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of 1,5 thousand euros for driving under the influence of alcohol in a high concentration.

It is alleged that on January 16th, the judge on duty in the Ulcinj department, Anka Rašović, imposed the sentence on him and obliged him to pay the fine immediately after it was pronounced.

"Since the defendant did not pay the fine within the specified period, it was replaced with a 60-day prison sentence, and the judge decided that he, as a foreign citizen, be sent to UIKS Spuž to serve his sentence before the decision becomes final," the statement said.

It is added that he was also banned from driving motor vehicles on the territory of Montenegro for six months, which will be enforced by the Police Directorate after serving the sentence.
