The Higher State Prosecutor's Office (VDT) did not specifically answer "Vijesti" - are there any indications that the murder of the Budva resident was Sima Marković related to a video in which he insults the wife of the leader of one of the criminal clans from Kotor.
The Police Directorate, however, told the newspaper that they have the footage, and that they have collected information from the people who appear in it.
They also state that the recording was submitted to the acting Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica for further action, but that its publication would jeopardize the investigation.
Marković was killed on the penultimate day of December, and a few days later a man from Podgorica was arrested for it. Nikola Boljević (24), who, according to police, is a member of the Kavac criminal clan.
After the crime, the editorial team was provided with a video recording showing Marković, accompanied by several other people, cursing and threatening a Kotor resident, his wife, and also a former politician from a coastal municipality and his wife.
"Vijesti" asked the prosecution whether they are in possession of the recording and whether, as part of the investigation, they are examining any possible connection of that content with the motives or circumstances of Marković's murder...
"The Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica has opened a case regarding the events of December 30, 2025 in Budva, when the person SM was killed, on which occasion an on-site investigation was conducted, during which all traces found were seized, which are the subjects of expert examination according to the order of the prosecutor's office, while in the further course of the procedure, in the capacity of a suspect, for the commission of the criminal offense of murder, committed to the detriment of the person SM, the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosive substances, and the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs, the person NB was questioned, after which an order was issued against him to conduct an investigation with a proposal for ordering detention, which detention was ordered by the Higher Court in Podgorica," states the response of the High State Prosecutor's Office headed by Lepa Medenica.
They also stated that in the further course of the proceedings, they will continuously take "all necessary measures and actions aimed at fully elucidating the criminal offense."
"Vijesti" asked the prosecutor's office whether the recording was being considered as part of the investigation into Marković's murder and whether they were investigating a possible connection between the insults and mentions of several people and the motive for the liquidation of the Budva resident.
The question of when the recording was made and whether that time frame is relevant to the investigation into the murder of Simo Marković remained unanswered.
Murder
A 52-year-old man from Budva was shot dead on December 30th in the local village of Markovići - he was found dead in a parking lot, near the village church.
On January 3, the Police Department officially announced that the murder was reported to them later, a few hours after the crime was committed.
"That is, with a significant time gap, which was an aggravating circumstance for the proceedings, especially considering the fact that the crime scene is located on the outskirts of the city, about a 15-minute drive from the city center," they announced after the arrest of the murder suspect.
They also claim that in this investigation they took "numerous operational, tactical, technical, forensic and evidentiary measures and actions in coordination with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office and the Forensic Center in Danilovgrad."
At that time, they also pointed out that evidence had been provided that reasonably points to the suspicion that Boljević was the executioner.
During a search of the apartment block in the Danilovgrad neighborhood of Spuž, where Boljević was hiding, police officers found a “Colt Commander” pistol with seven rounds of ammunition in the frame and about half a kilogram of cocaine.
The Police Department said at the time that it would send the gun for forensic analysis "in order to determine whether it was used in the commission of a criminal offense."
That night, in addition to the apartment where the murder suspect was hiding, inspectors searched buildings at several locations in the territory of Spuž and Podgorica.
A 24-year-old man from Podgorica, suspected of killing Marković, was released from the pre-trial detention center in mid-September last year, where he was held on suspicion of committing attempted murder on February 22, 2025, on Nikšićki put Street in Podgorica.
After the attempted murder, he hid in a "shelter flat" in Budva, where the police arrested him.
"After the expiry of the detention ordered by the competent court, NB was released to defend himself at liberty in further proceedings," the UP said last night.
The day after Boljević's arrest, police in Budva searched persons of security interest, members of high-risk organized crime groups and persons associated with them.
They have a recording, but they wouldn't talk about it.
The police, according to the security service, in accordance with legal authority and in cooperation with the competent state prosecutor's office, are taking intensive and comprehensive measures and actions to fully shed light on Marković's murder, but they cannot comment on individual pieces of evidence - not even the recording.
They also state that they have a video recording, that information was collected from certain persons appearing in the recording, and that the recording was submitted to the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica for further action.
"Given that this is an active investigation, the Police Directorate is currently unable to comment on individual evidence, recordings, their content, or on possible motives and circumstances of the commission of the criminal offense. Given that publishing the video could jeopardize the course of the investigation and further disturb the public, we ask that, if you are in possession of the said recording, you do not publish it for the reasons stated," the responses from the UP read.
"Vijesti" asked the institution whether they were considering the content of the recording in the murder investigation, whether the video was officially recorded as possible evidence, and whether any connection between the content of the recording and the motives or circumstances of Marković's murder was being investigated.
They did not answer the question of whether it was determined when the recording was made, or whether the now deceased Marković was registered as a member of the organized crime group, the Skaljarski Clan.
