Weapons and drugs were found today during searches and increased police activities in Nikšić and Šavnik, as well as in the south of the country.
Police raids were also carried out in Ulcinj and Budva.
The Police Directorate (PD) officially announced that in order to prevent the misuse of firearms and narcotics, seize illegal weapons and ammunition, as well as discover and dismantle street drug distribution networks, officers of the Regional Security Center "South" carried out coordinated police activities in the area of Ulcinj and Budva today.
"On that occasion, 14 firearms, over 500 rounds of ammunition, 33 PVC packages of cocaine, 28 bromazepam tablets, two mobile phones and one passenger motor vehicle were found and seized. Three persons were prosecuted, of whom one person of operational interest was deprived of his liberty," the statement said.
The UP added that Ulcinj police officers conducted several searches during which they seized 14 firearms and over 500 rounds of ammunition.
"Acting on operational information, in cooperation with officers of the Bar Security Department and using a border police service dog, pursuant to an order from the competent court, a search was carried out of the buildings and auxiliary premises used by AM (37) from Ulcinj. On that occasion, eight firearms were found and seized, namely: five Colt, CZ and Zastava pistols, two Zastava Arms (sniper rifle) and Benelli rifles, as well as one Blow starter pistol, and 509 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers," the UP said.
The statement also states that the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Ulcinj was informed of the incident, and ordered the weapon to be temporarily confiscated for further checks, after which he will make a statement on the possible legal qualification of the act.
"A misdemeanor warrant was issued to AM for a violation of the Weapons Act, while a request will be filed with the competent court against the same person for initiating misdemeanor proceedings for a violation of Article 13 of the Public Order and Peace Act," the UP said.
The institution said that police officers also searched the house and auxiliary facilities used by EP (32) and MP (52) from Ulcinj, during which six firearms were found and seized: four pistols of the "Glock", "Browning" and "Zastava" brands, as well as two hunting rifles of the "Beretta" brand and an unknown brand, as well as several pieces of ammunition.
"After collecting the necessary information, by order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Ulcinj, criminal charges were filed against MP on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives," the UP said.
The statement also states that Budva police officers searched the apartment and vehicles used by a person of operational interest, MZ (32) from Danilovgrad, residing in Budva.
"On that occasion, 33 PVC packages of the narcotic drug cocaine and 28 bromazepam tablets were found and seized, which are suspected to have been intended for further street distribution. Packaging equipment, two mobile phones and a certain amount of money were also found and seized, while a passenger motor vehicle was seized for further checks. By order of the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, MZ was deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs," the UP said.
The Police Department said that police officers from the Regional Security Center "West", carrying out coordinated intensified activities within their jurisdiction aimed at combating the abuse of narcotics, violence and weapons in illegal possession, with an emphasis on controlling persons of operational interest and those connected to them, as well as traffic participants, all with the aim of raising the level of security in the western region, conducted searches and controls of several persons with the support of officers from the Border Police Sector and service dogs.
"On this occasion, one person was deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing a criminal offense, one person for violations of the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse, and four for violations of the Law on Road Traffic Safety. During the implementation of operational-tactical activities, over 220 grams of marijuana, three rifles, a pistol, a knife-bayonet, 126 pieces of ammunition and a high-class vehicle that was wanted by foreign law enforcement agencies were seized," the UP said.
The institution said that during a search of the apartment and other premises used by M.Ž. from Nikšić, police officers found approximately 220 grams of a substance suspected to be marijuana, and that this person, after consultations with the prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs.
"Police officers searched the premises used by NA, also from Nikšić, and found a small package containing dry green plant matter suspected to be the narcotic drug marijuana, weighing a total of 10,6 grams, a bayonet knife and eight rounds of pistol ammunition. After consultations with the Senior State Prosecutor in Podgorica, NA was deprived of his liberty for a violation of the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse, while the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić will make a statement regarding the found ammunition after appropriate expert assessments have been conducted. Two hunting rifles were found during a search of the premises used by TB from Nikšić, and misdemeanor proceedings will be initiated against him for a violation of the Law on Weapons, followed by administrative proceedings aimed at permanently confiscating the weapons," the UP said.
The statement also states that the police in Šavnik searched the facilities used by MM, where a rifle, a small-caliber pistol, 118 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers, as well as a box of hand grenades were found and seized.
"At the order of the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Pljevlja, a criminal complaint was filed against MM on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives, in regular proceedings. In addition, on the Nikšić - Vilusi main road, in the town of Vitalac, police officers checked a passenger motor vehicle of the brand 'Mercedes', model 'GL' with Podgorica license plates, driven by MP from Podgorica. After conducting detailed checks, police officers determined that this vehicle was wanted by the law enforcement authorities of the Republic of Hungary, and it was seized," the UP said.
The statement says that also, through increased traffic control, police officers on the territory of the Regional Security Center "West" arrested four drivers who were caught driving under the influence of cocaine, namely the operationally interesting person Ž.J. (33), as well as LR (23), IJ (22) in Nikšić and MN (32) in Šavnik.
"Officers of the Police Directorate continue uncompromising intensive activities to identify and detect all criminal activities, with an emphasis on those carried out by members of organized criminal groups, persons of operational interest and those connected to them, all with the aim of prosecuting them and creating a favorable security environment for the lives of citizens," the UP said.
