Police arrested J. Ć. (45) on suspicion of committing multiple crimes in four coastal towns, the Police Directorate (PD) announced today.
The statement states that J. Ć. is suspected of the crimes of aggravated theft, vehicle theft and attempted aggravated theft.
The Police Department said that he is suspected of committing criminal offenses in the territories of the municipalities of Kotor, Herceg Novi, Budva and Tivat within a period of four days.
"He is suspected of having stolen a Renault passenger vehicle in Kotor, owned by a legal entity, which police officers found in Bečići on the same day and returned to the owner. The prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kotor was informed about this event, and the case files were submitted to him for assessment and opinion," the statement said.
The Police Department added that in Herceg Novi, J. Ć. is suspected of committing the crime of aggravated theft by using physical force and a suitable means to damage the door lock of a tobacco shop in Herceg Novi, from where he stole a large quantity of cigarettes and fled in a taxi in an unknown direction.
"Furthermore, he is also suspected of the criminal offense of attempted aggravated theft committed in the town of Lastva, to the detriment of the Montenegrin Post Office, while ultimately, in the territory of the municipality of Tivat, this person stole a Mercedes passenger motor vehicle and, while driving it, caused a traffic accident in the territory under the jurisdiction of the Budva Security Department. He was deprived of his liberty and brought before the acting prosecutor for further jurisdiction within the legal deadline," the UP said.
