Thirty-eight-year-old A. Lj., suspected of smuggling 107 kilograms of marijuana, which was found three days ago in the border zone in the territory of Tuzi, was arrested in Podgorica.
The Police Directorate announced that last night, in a coordinated operation in the Podgorica neighborhood of Stari Aerodrom, they located the apartment where the suspect was hiding.
"Police officers of the Border Police Sector, acting on operational information and pursuant to a court order, searched an apartment in Podgorica, owned by IV from Podgorica, in which they found the person A. Lj. (38), who was wanted in connection with the seizure of 107 kilograms of marijuana, carried out on January 26, 2026 in the town of Vranj, as well as the person SO (32). During the search of the apartment, traces of a white powdery substance resembling cocaine were found. At the prosecutor's order, A. Lj. and SO were sent to a health facility for medical testing for the presence of psychoactive substances in the body, where it was determined that both persons tested positive for cocaine," the statement reads.
After conducting a criminal investigation, on the order of the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, A. Lj. was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs, as well as the criminal offense of facilitating the consumption of narcotic drugs.
The police remind that on January 26, officers of the Border Police Sector prevented the smuggling of more than 100 kilograms of marijuana in the border zone in the territory of Tuzi. During the inspection of the vehicle, approximately 107 kilograms of marijuana, suspected of being smuggled from Albania, were found, as well as binoculars and a knife.
