Berane police arrested a JP who is suspected of breaking into a catering facility in Berane and stealing a box with money that was being collected for the treatment of a child, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
The statement states that Berane police officers acted upon a report of a burglary and theft from a catering facility in Berane, and that they arrested one person and filed criminal charges against him.
"Namely, JP will be held responsible for the criminal offense of aggravated theft, which he committed by using a suitable means to enter a catering facility in Berane, from where he stole a box with money that was collected for the treatment of a child. In addition, the police searched the apartment and other premises used by JP, where they found and seized 49 pills from the list of opiates and a gas pistol without adequate documentation," the statement states.
The UP added that in relation to the found tablets, the prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje stated that there were no elements of a criminal offense in the aforementioned actions, and that a request will be filed against JP to initiate misdemeanor proceedings in accordance with the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse.
The UP said that a misdemeanor warrant will be filed against JP in accordance with the Weapons Act in relation to the seized pistol.
