The duty prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) in Bijelo Polje submitted a proposal to the Basic Court in that city to impose a supervision measure on AA - a ban on leaving the place of residence - of the municipality of Bijelo Polje, due to suspicion that he endangered the safety of the president of the Democratic People's Party (DNP) and MP in the Parliament of Montenegro, Milan Knežević.
The prosecutor submitted the motion to the court yesterday, after hearing AA from Bijelo Polje.
The Bijelo Polje ODT announced that the criminal report and the collected evidence indicate that the suspect AA, on February 2 of this year at around 14 p.m., called the duty service of the Bijelo Polje Police Department (OB) from his own phone number and made several threats against Knežević and his family.
As announced yesterday by the Police Department, the police have identified and arrested AA from Bijelo Polje, suspected of making threats over the phone to the life and limb of Knežević, his family, and the family home.
The statement states that an unknown person reported to the Bijelo Polje police on duty that he was going to attack Knežević, his family and his family home.
"In relation to this event, urgent comprehensive actions were taken on the ground and in the shortest possible time, the perpetrator was identified - AA from Bijelo Polje, who was arrested on the order of the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, who qualified the criminal offense as endangering security. This person will be brought to the acting Basic State Prosecutor for further jurisdiction with a criminal report within the legally prescribed period," the police announced. They added that by acting indiscriminately and with full professional integrity, they will continue to react decisively and without delay to any type of threat. "The rapid identification and arrest of the perpetrator in this case confirm the police's readiness and commitment to protect the life and body of every citizen, including public office holders," the UP announced yesterday.
