Haris Dervišević, a resident of Berane, was arrested last night in Tivat on suspicion of setting fire to the Range Rover of priest Mijajlo Backović the night before in the local settlement of Učuri, multiple sources told "Vijesti", which was later confirmed in a statement by the Police Directorate.
According to unofficial information from "Vijesti", Dervišević is suspected of dousing the car of a priest of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral with gasoline and setting it on fire on February 4th, at around 3:30 am.
"Vijesti" was not told whether the suspect acted alone or on someone's orders, nor whether the burning of the vehicle was connected to any previous attacks on Backović's property, whose BMW was set on fire in front of his house in January last year.

"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'South' - Tivat Security Department, within less than 24 hours, after implementing measures and actions within their jurisdiction, identified and deprived of liberty the person suspected of causing a fire in the vehicle of the priest MB. Namely, the police officers acted upon a report that on 04.02.2026., in the settlement of Učuri, a fire broke out in a passenger motor vehicle of the brand 'Range Rover', with Belgrade license plates, used by the priest MB. On that occasion, due to the effects of the flame, another vehicle owned by the person BB, which was parked in the immediate vicinity of the said vehicle, was also damaged. Through the criminal-operational measures and actions taken, the person HD from Berane, a returnee in committing criminal offenses, was identified and located in a short time," the Police Directorate announced.
The police said that after conducting a criminal investigation and collecting information, by order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kotor, Dervišević was deprived of his liberty on suspicion of committing a serious crime against public security in conjunction with the criminal offense of causing public danger.
"Officers of the Police Directorate are taking further measures and actions in order to fully clarify the events and determine all facts and circumstances, as well as any possible connection of other persons to this criminal offense," the statement concludes.
Yesterday, the Police Directorate unofficially told "Vijesti" that they were reported in the early morning hours that "a fire broke out in a vehicle with Belgrade license plates, used by Backović," in the Učuri neighborhood.
They also state that they informed the prosecutor on duty at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office about the incident, and they acted on his orders.
The investigation was carried out with the involvement of experts for fires, explosions and accidents.
