Members of the Regional Border Police Center "Center" arrested a Sudanese citizen suspected of smuggling his compatriot.

"Police officers, during the implementation of operational activities aimed at detecting and identifying illegal migrants, checked three persons who, after being taken to official premises, were identified as citizens of Sudan: AS (21), DM (23) and HI (20). After collecting information and taking further measures and actions on the order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, A. S. was deprived of his liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal crossing of the state border and human smuggling," the Police Directorate announced.

He is suspected of having, in his capacity as a field guide, shown the aforementioned persons a route outside the official border crossing, using forest paths and railway tracks, on the route from Albania to Montenegro, and of having obtained an unlawful material benefit in the amount of 800 euros for this service.

The suspect was brought to the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, with a criminal complaint filed.
