Police officers arrested M.Š. (25) from Bijelo Polje and MZ (30) from Novi Sad in Herceg Novi on suspicion of attempting to kidnap a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the Police Directorate announced.
The police said that officers from the Herceg Novi Security Department quickly solved the crime of attempted kidnapping, committed during the night in the town of Sutorina to the detriment of a foreign citizen who was staying in that town.
"The Herceg Novi Security Department's duty service received a call at 1:50 a.m. from the owner of a house in Sutorina, who reported that two people had attacked a BiH citizen who was living with him as a tenant, and that they had then fled," the statement said.
The police stated that their officers took a series of operational-tactical measures and actions, based on which they located, found and arrested M.Š. and MZ.
"It is suspected that M.Š., whom the injured party knew from before, and MZ. came to the injured party's residence in Sutorina the previous evening, forcibly entered the apartment located in the house where he lives as a tenant, and struck him several times with a closed fist while he was in bed," the statement says.
It is suspected that M.Š. put a cloth over the injured party's mouth, while MZ continued to hit and kick him.
"The two men took away his two mobile phones and 100 euros, and then forcibly took him out of the apartment, intending to take him in their vehicle in an unknown direction, but they were stopped in the yard by the owner of the house, who told them he would call the police," the statement said.
It is alleged that suspects M.Š. and MZ then drove away from the scene.
"And the police officers, who were informed about the incident in the meantime and who were searching for them, located them, caught up with them in a vehicle, stopped them and brought them to the official premises of the Herceg Novi Security Department, where they were arrested. The competent prosecutor was informed about the incident," the police said.
They said that a BiH citizen was slightly injured in the incident.
"The suspects M.Š. and MZ will be brought before the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Herceg Novi, with a criminal complaint, on suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of attempted kidnapping to the detriment of the injured party," the statement says.
It is alleged that the suspect MZ and the injured party did not report their residence in Montenegro within the legal deadline, so measures will be applied against them in accordance with the Law on Foreigners, and after prosecutorial measures and actions.
