The Police Directorate (UP) announced today that 34 members of the "Varvari" fan group have been prosecuted for violations during and after the match between the football clubs Budućnost and Ilarion on January 24 in Podgorica.
"On January 24, at around 3:20 p.m., the president of FK 'Budućnost' reported to police officers in Podgorica that members of the fan group 'Varvari' had interrupted the match between FK 'Budućnost' and FK 'Ilarion' by entering the field with about 30 masked individuals using pyrotechnics, and then picking up the balls used during the match and taking them away," the UP statement said.
The statement added that the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was informed of the incident, and that information was collected from the executive director of FK 'Budućnost', as well as from MD (23), AL (20), AB (23) and four minors aged 17 and 15.
"After taking comprehensive measures and actions in relation to this event, officers of the Police Directorate filed requests to initiate misdemeanor proceedings against the seven mentioned persons for violations under Article 30 of the Law on the Prevention of Violence and Inappropriate Behavior at Sports Events," the UP statement reads.
The institution said that also on January 24, in the evening, members of the "Varvari" fan group gathered near the northern stand of the Pod Goricom City Stadium and expressed their dissatisfaction with the club's management.
"From the aforementioned location, this group headed to the Capital City Municipality building where they chanted derogatory words against the aforementioned president of FC 'Budućnost', during which certain individuals threw pyrotechnics in front of the Municipality building. In relation to this event, the police took action within their jurisdiction, identified and processed 27 individuals - AJ (30). NV (18), E. Š. (26), SB (29), IM (37), SV (29), MV (27), DV (26), SK (32), K. Đ. (25), LM (27), Lj. V. (42), EI (39), MK (35), BV (36), RR (45), D. Š. (28), MB (28), MM (45), NB (34). SR (43), AS (18), Ć. T. (29), VL (39), AR (40), AG (33) and Š. R. (22). Misdemeanor charges were filed against them "for violations under Article 5 of the Public Order and Peace Act," the UP said.
The statement also states that on January 29, during a check on people in Aerodromska Street, two people were spotted who were known to be members of the "Varvari" fan group.
"However, these individuals did not have their ID cards with them and were brought to the official premises of the Podgorica Security Department for identification purposes, where it was determined that they were AB (23) and LJ (19). These individuals were issued misdemeanor warrants by police officers since they did not have their personal documents when they were identified," the UP said.
The statement also states that on February 5, police officers checked NO (27) and two people who did not have personal documents with them on Charles de Gaulle Street.
"On this occasion, one of these persons had a small PVC package with the contents of dry plant matter suspected to be the narcotic drug marijuana and a grinder, while the other person had a PVC package with the same contents. The persons were brought to the official premises where it was determined that they were L. Ć. (25) and AB (23) and they are both members of the 'Varvari' fan group. They were issued misdemeanor warrants for violations of the Identity Card Act, while misdemeanor charges will be filed for violations of the Drug Abuse Prevention Act," the UP said.
The statement also states that in relation to all these events and individuals, police officers searched nine locations.
