Žižić: Lazović demanded that we take all necessary measures to prosecute the branch of the clan headed by Duško Roganović

"Veljko Belivuk and Marko Miljković were under constant surveillance and escort. Given the large number of police officers involved, the two of them could not have been a threat to anything," said the former police official.

Veljko Belivuk and Marko Miljković did not pose a threat to national security in Montenegro, because they were under constant surveillance.

This was stated today in the High Court in Podgorica as a witness by Milorad Žižić, former head of the Department for Combating Organized Crime, answering questions from lawyer Zoran Piperović, in the continuation of the trial of former Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoj Katnić, former high-ranking police official Zoran Lazović and Special Prosecutor Saša Čađenović.

They are accused of creating a criminal organization, abuse of official position and money laundering.

"Veljko Belivuk and Marko Miljković were under constant surveillance and escort. Given the large number of police officers involved, the two could not have posed a threat to anything. They could not have left their apartment unnoticed during their stay in Kotor in January 2021," Žižić said.

Today, he answered about 70 questions from special prosecutor Miloš Šoškić and defense attorneys.

"It was Zoran Lazović who asked us to do everything we could to prosecute the branch of the Škalja and Kavač clan from Herceg Novi, headed by Duško Roganović from Novi. Zoran Lazović told me to just do our job. I have never heard that Lazović gave anyone an order on how to proceed in the case of Duško Roganović," Žižić pointed out.

He stated that Lazović never gave him an order or instruction to destroy documentation related to the Kavač clan.

"The media reported that I was shredding documents related to the Kavač clan in a shredder. Every document goes through the archives, where it is kept. That is easy to check," Žižić emphasized, adding that even after Lazović's position ended, he never received any orders or instructions from him.

Responding to questions from lawyer Stefan Jovanović, Žižić said that in 2020, 91 people were prosecuted, 41 of whom were from the Kavač clan and 14 from the Škalja clan. A year later, 108 people were prosecuted, of whom 37 were from the Kavač clan, 28 from the Škalja clan and eight from the Berane clan. He added that Lazović never asked for Duško Roganović or any person from that group to be privileged.
