The border police in Tuzi seized 255 kilograms of tobacco worth around 23.000 euros. KP (49) was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trafficking and the criminal offense of forging a document, while BP (29) was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trafficking.
"Police officers, during operational work on the ground at Lake Skadar, in the town of Zbelj, Tuzi municipality, spotted a vessel that had docked on the shore, after which an unknown person unloaded several PVC bags from it into an abandoned building. After that, the person driving the vessel entered a Volkswagen Golf 3 passenger motor vehicle, which was parked on the pier, while another vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf 5, was nearby. Both vehicles then headed towards Vranj, where police officers soon stopped them and conducted a check," the Police Directorate announced.
On that occasion, it was determined that KP was driving a "Golf 3" and that BP was driving a "Golf 5".
"A check of the Podgorica license plates on the vehicle driven by KP revealed that they did not belong to that vehicle, but to another passenger motor vehicle, and that their validity expired in 2023," the police added.
Police officers then conducted a search of the area and found 17 larger PVC bags with a total of 510 smaller packages of cut tobacco in an abandoned building near the pier, weighing a total of about 255 kilograms, with an estimated value of about 23.000 euros.
"The persons and vehicles were brought to the official premises of the Border Police Station I in Podgorica for further processing. After collecting information, the acting prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica ordered that KP be deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trade and the criminal offense of forgery of a document, while BP was deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trade," the statement reads.
