In continuation of activities to detect and prevent illegal trade in excise goods and suppress the grey economy, officers of the Regional Border Police Center "North", in cooperation with officers of the Rožaje and Berane security departments, conducted searches at six locations and seized over 1.500 packs of cigarettes, 3.500 firecrackers, 14 kg of tobacco and ammunition, without proper documentation.
This was announced today by the Police Administration (UP).
As stated in the statement, on that occasion, during a search of MB (44) in a commercial facility, 1.300 packs of cigarettes with Kosovo excise stamps, as well as 14 kilograms of cut tobacco, were found in specially constructed compartments.
"280 packs of cigarettes with excise stamps from Serbia and Kosovo were found in the possession of EF (48). After collecting information, criminal charges were filed against MB and EF, at the order of the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Rožaje, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trade," the statement said.
The police added that during the search, 3.500 firecrackers were found on AK (40), as well as 27 packages of carbonated and non-carbonated drinks, for which he did not have the necessary documentation, and that the items found were temporarily confiscated, while the acting prosecutor will later rule on the legal qualification of the act.
"30 rounds of ammunition for a starting pistol were found on the person SD (35), without the necessary documentation, and he will be sanctioned in accordance with the Weapons Act," the statement concludes.
