Berane police arrested a woman from that city on suspicion of forcing her three minor children to beg..
As announced by the Police Directorate, the suspect was deprived of her liberty during intensified activities carried out to suppress begging, as well as organized and coercive forms of this crime.
"It is suspected that FZ committed the crime by abusing the relationship of trust and dependence, by using her minor children, aged ten, seven and five, for forced begging. It is suspected that the children collected money by begging under duress, which they then handed over to their mother. Police officers found a certain amount of money with the injured children, as well as with the suspected mother, which is suspected to have come from forced begging," the police announced.
The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane was notified of the event, and on her orders, the children were handed over to the officers of the Center for Social Work in Berane to protect their rights, primarily accommodation and care.
