The Democratic People's Party (DNP) expresses its full and unequivocal support for former minister Vesna Bratić, who was arrested today on the orders of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT), the DNP announced today.
"We believe that her only 'sin' is that she had the courage to break the deep-rooted octopus of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in the Ministry of Education and Culture and to begin dismantling the system that has abused institutions for decades. If this is the reason for her arrest, then, by the same logic, all citizens who voted for change, for freedom and for an end to the thirty-year reign of injustice, corruption and crime on August 30, 2020 should also be arrested," the DNP statement said.
The party, led by Milan Knežević, added that it is particularly scandalous and unacceptable that the arrest of Vesna Bratić is being presented in some media outlets as a kind of reality show, with sensationalism and public lynching.
"We call on the competent prosecutor's office to finally start doing its job in the interest of justice and citizens, by first inviting Milo Đukanović and members of his family, as well as all those around him who have been looting and ravaging Montenegro for 30 years, for an informative interview, instead of arresting those who tried to introduce law and order into the state institutions," the DNP said.
Former Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vesna Bratić was arrested earlier today in an investigation by the SDT.
Officers from the Special Police Department (SPO) arrested her this morning in Podgorica. She was taken to the "Limenka" building, where the SPO headquarters are located, after 11 a.m. She left the building after questioning at around 13 p.m.
Bratić was arrested in a separate investigation by the SDT, which is unrelated to this morning's arrest of former Director of the Property Administration Blaž Šaranović.
