Europe Now Movement (PES) MP in the Parliament of Montenegro Branka Marković has expressed her support for former Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vesna Bratić.
"While numerous individuals accused of serious crimes in Montenegro have had the opportunity to defend themselves from freedom, and some have abused that opportunity and fled, the question arises as to whether the detention of Professor Vesna Bratić is justified," Marković pointed out on the social network Facebook.
Marković also asked "is it really appropriate to put in the same basket persons suspected of the most serious crimes and a university professor who showed no intention of avoiding the proceedings"?
"Support for Professor Bratić," she wrote.
Vesna Bratić was today ordered to be detained for up to 72 hours, after she was arrested this morning in an SDT investigation.
Officers from the Special Police Department (SPO) arrested her this morning in Podgorica. She was taken to the "Limenka" building, where the SPO headquarters are located, after 11 a.m. She left the building after questioning at around 13 p.m.
Bratić was arrested in a separate investigation by the SDT, which is unrelated to this morning's arrest of former Director of the Property Administration Blaž Šaranović.
