Six people have been prosecuted in Berane for drug abuse, the Police Directorate announced. A criminal complaint was filed against AD (21) on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs, and misdemeanor charges were filed against VV (36), AM (26), DD (23), JP (26), all from Berane, and AG (18) from Bijelo Polje for violations of the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse.
"The police previously searched the premises used by the person of operational interest VD, a close relative of AD, when an improvised laboratory for the production of narcotics was found. Appropriate expert examinations were carried out at the Forensic Center of the Police Directorate when it was determined that the aforementioned laboratory was also linked to AD, against whom criminal charges were then filed," the police statement said.
The aforementioned misdemeanor charges were filed after increased activities were carried out in the area of combating drug abuse and street sales of narcotics in Berane, the police said.
"Detecting and preventing all forms of drug abuse and prosecuting those responsible will continue to be the focus of the work of police officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' in the coming period, with the aim of maintaining a stable state of security and protecting the health of citizens," the statement said.
