Nikšić resident V.Ž. (69) was arrested for domestic violence, and a search of the apartments he uses in Nikšić and Šavnik resulted in the discovery of a submachine gun, a pistol, two rifles and ammunition, which were temporarily confiscated, the Police Directorate announced.
"Acting on a report in the field of domestic violence, the police, by court order, searched residential buildings owned by V.Ž. (69) in the territory of Nikšić and Šavnik. During the search, the following were found and temporarily seized: a submachine gun, two hunting rifles of the brands 'Zastava' and 'Bajkal', a pistol of the brand 'Zastava M70', as well as 23 pieces of ammunition for a hunting rifle. After the official measures and actions taken and the information collected, the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Pljevlja was informed of the event, who ordered that V.Ž. be deprived of liberty on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of domestic violence or violence in the family community," the police statement states.
In relation to the found firearm, the state prosecutor will subsequently rule on the legal qualification of the act, after expert examinations have been conducted, the police said.
The Police Directorate appealed to citizens to promptly report any form of violence, antisocial or deviant behavior, in order to jointly prevent events that could endanger the safety of citizens and cause serious consequences for their safety.
