Jagoš Bećirović reacted to the article "Interest, gravel and expensive restaurants...", which mentions a certain J. Bećirović in the context of usury in Zeta.
"Regarding the text published in the daily newspaper 'Vijesti' under the title 'Interest, gravel and expensive restaurants...', which mentions J. Bećirović from Zeta, in order to truthfully inform the public, I hereby announce the following:
I, Jagoš Bećirović, have never been involved in loan sharking, nor am I a member of any loan shark or any other criminal clan. Also, as far as is known, I am not a person of interest to security, about which I will certainly request an official statement from the Police Directorate.
Any use of my name in such a context is incorrect and constitutes a gross insinuation that damages my personal and professional reputation.
The only clan I belong to is my immediate and extended family, as well as the group of citizens against the collector in Botun, of which I am an active member and whose views I publicly and consistently represent. I will always belong to these 'clans' – openly, transparently and without hidden interests.
It is true that I have known some of the people mentioned in the text since childhood and that they are my friends. These relationships are private in nature and are based on long-standing acquaintance and mutual respect. They will remain so as long as both parties maintain a friendly relationship, but no conclusions about alleged illegal activities can and should be drawn from this.
I call on the media to refrain from unfounded constructions and, in accordance with professional standards, to verify allegations that could seriously jeopardize someone's integrity before publishing information.
"Please publish the response in the first next issue and in the same space, on the same page," Bećirović said in his response.
