Three police officers accompanying Prime Minister Milojko Spajić were injured in a traffic accident in the town of Skrbuša, on the Mateševo - Kolašin road.
The Police Directorate announced that Spajić, a protected person, was not in the vehicle with the injured police officers, but in another vehicle from the escort.
"Vijesti" was told that the police officers suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. They were admitted to the Clinical Center of Montenegro for treatment.
The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m., and the other vehicle, a "BMW" with foreign license plates, was driven by VS (21) from Ukraine.
According to initial information from the Police, it is assumed that the Ukrainian overtook and then hit the "Mercedes" from the Prime Minister's entourage. The force of the impact, as told to "Vijesti", caused the official car to fly off the road and only by sheer luck did it not land in a ravine.
"Based on the actions taken so far and the information gathered, it is suspected that the traffic accident occurred when a Ukrainian citizen, who was driving a BMW, was driving on the R-13 regional road from Podgorica to Kolašin, on a section of the road where there is a full longitudinal, or uninterrupted, line, for reasons that are currently undetermined, crossed into the opposite lane and the front of the vehicle made contact with the front of an official vehicle from the escort of the protected person, which was driving from the direction of Kolašin to Podgorica," the police announced.
It is added that the accident involved a Mercedes official vehicle, the first vehicle in the protected person's escort, which was being driven by police officer MK at the time of the accident. There were two other police officers in the vehicle.
"All three police officers sustained physical injuries and received medical attention."
The second vehicle, a BMW with foreign license plates, was driven by VS (21) from Ukraine.
"We would like to note that the protected person was not in the aforementioned vehicle, but in another vehicle from the escort. After completing the investigation and taking all legally prescribed measures and actions, the Police Directorate will promptly inform the public about the circumstances of this event," the police announced.
The investigation was conducted by Kolašin prosecutor Maja Šćepanović. Traffic on that section was disrupted for two and a half hours.
