During a search of G.Ć.'s house in Gornje Luge, Andrijevica, the Berane police found and seized an M57 hand grenade as well as 37 pieces of ammunition, the Police Directorate announced today.
According to the statement, criminal charges have been filed against him.
"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'North', Berane Security Department, in accordance with planned activities, implemented enhanced measures and actions within their jurisdiction with the aim of suppressing violence and illegal possession of weapons, and searched the family home and auxiliary facilities used by G.Ć. from that city in the village of Gornje Luge in Andrijevica. On this occasion, the police found and seized 37 pieces of ammunition as well as an M57 hand grenade," the UP statement said.
The police added that the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane was informed of the incident and stated that the seized items should be sent for appropriate expert examination to the Forensic Center of the Police, and that criminal charges should then be filed against G.Ć. on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives.
"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' continue with intensive controls and operational activities aimed at detecting and suppressing illegal possession of weapons, and prosecuting those responsible. The safety of citizens remains a priority, and a decisive fight against all forms of illegal possession of weapons will be carried out without exception," the UP statement concluded.
