Ukrainian detained for up to 72 hours due to accident with vehicle from Spajić's escort

The Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT), after a hearing, ordered the detention of Ukrainian citizen VS (21) for up to 72 hours, due to reasonable suspicion that he committed a serious crime against the safety of public transport.

"After questioning at the ODT Kolašin, the suspect VS was ordered to be detained for up to 72 hours from the time of his arrest due to reasonable suspicion that he committed a serious crime against the safety of public transport," the head of the ODT told Vijesti.

Yesterday at around 4:30 p.m., in the town of Skrbuša, on the Mateševo-Kolašin road, the suspect, driving a BMW, allegedly overtaking, hit a Mercedes escorting Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, injuring three police officers who were in the vehicle. The force of the impact, as reported to "Vijesti" yesterday, caused the official car to fly off the road and only by sheer luck did it not land in a ravine.

"Based on the actions taken so far and the information gathered, it is suspected that the traffic accident occurred when a Ukrainian citizen, who was driving a BMW, was driving on the R-13 regional road from Podgorica to Kolašin, on a section of the road where there is a full longitudinal, or uninterrupted, line, for reasons that are currently unknown, crossed into the opposite lane and the front of the vehicle made contact with the front of an official vehicle from the escort of the protected person, which was driving from the direction of Kolašin to Podgorica," the police announced yesterday.
