Bail accepted for Aco Đukanović, deposited one million in cash and real estate worth over four million euros

Bail for Aco Đukanović was accepted, with two supervision measures.

The decision was made by Judge Sava Mušikić of the Basic Court in Nikšić.

As announced by the Basic Court in Nikšić, the bail consists of cash in the amount of one million euros and real estate estimated at a total value of four million and twelve thousand euros.

"By the decision of the investigating judge Kri. No. 101/26 of 20.03.2026, the bail of the defendant A.Đ. was accepted, for the criminal offense of unauthorized possession and carrying of weapons and explosives under Article 403, paragraph 2 in connection with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro, which bail consists of cash in the amount of 1.000.000,00 (one million) euros and real estate estimated at a total value of 4.012.000,00 (four million and twelve thousand) euros. Also, the defendant A.Đ. was imposed a supervision measure of prohibition from leaving the apartment in the municipality of Nikšić, pursuant to Article 166, paragraph 2, item 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code, as well as a supervision measure of temporary seizure of the travel document - passport, pursuant to Article 166, paragraph 2, item 6 of the Criminal Procedure Code," it was announced. from the Basic Court in Nikšić.

The decision will be enforceable after it becomes final and binding, and an appeal against it is allowed within three days from the time of delivery of the decision, and it will be decided by the extra-judicial criminal panel of the Basic Court in Nikšić.

One of Đukanović's lawyers said that the surveillance measures include a ban on leaving the place of residence and the confiscation of his travel document.

Djukanovic will be released from custody when Judge Mušikic's decision becomes final.

His lawyers, as reported by RTNK, assessed that certain measures were inappropriate, considering the bail amounting to over five million euros and the criminal offense he is charged with.

"The judge accepted the defense's proposal for release on bail, with an inappropriately high amount of five million euros in relation to the type and severity of the criminal offense as well as the practice for these criminal offenses. In addition, he ordered supervision measures, a ban on leaving the place of residence and the seizure of travel documents, which are also inappropriate with the bail that was given, considering the amount that was given. So in that sense, we believe that this decision is as it is and we will await further outcome," said attorney Slobodan Stašević.

Aco Đukanović, brother of former President and Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, was arrested after a search of the family home in the Nikšić settlement of Rastoci on February 28, after which he was remanded in custody due to the risk of flight.

"At the proposal of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić, A. Đ. was ordered to be detained due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of unauthorized possession and carrying of weapons and explosives. The detention was ordered due to the risk of escape. There is reasonable suspicion that A. Đ. was illegally holding weapons and ammunition in his house in Nikšić," the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić announced at the time.
