Businessman Aco Đukanović will defend himself from his freedom with a ban on leaving his apartment, electronic surveillance, and temporary seizure of his travel document.
This is the decision of the panel of the Basic Court in Nikšić, chaired by Mirko Kojović.
The court emphasizes that there is a risk of flight because Đukanović has connections and stays abroad and significant assets, but that the bail offered is sufficiently serious and deterrent and that the supervision measures are proportionate and less severe than detention.
The explanation of the decision states that the bail offered by Đukanović's defense lawyers is accepted, which consists of depositing 1.000.000 euros in cash into a court deposit and registering a mortgage in the real estate cadastre, in favor of the state of Montenegro, on real estate owned by the guarantor - worth more than four million euros.
The court rejected the appeal of the prosecution, which requested that Đukanović remain in custody, and the appeal of the defense, which requested that the supervision measures be lifted.
Bail for Aco Đukanović was accepted on March 20, with two supervision measures.
The decision was made by the judge of the Basic Court in Nikšić, Sava Mušikić.
As announced at the time by the Basic Court in Nikšić, the bail consists of cash in the amount of one million euros and real estate estimated at a total value of four million and twelve thousand euros.
Aco Đukanović, brother of former President and Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, was arrested after a search of the family home in the Nikšić settlement of Rastoci on February 28, after which he was remanded in custody due to the risk of flight.
