The Special Panel of Judge Veljko Radovanović today rejected the defense's motion to terminate the detention of former Police Directorate official Zoran Lazović at the Higher Court in Podgorica.

In his motion to terminate custody at today's trial, attorney Zoran Piperović said that Lazović's custody should be terminated.

He assessed that the grounds for Lazović's detention, which was extended due to the risk of flight, were "absurd".

"It is quite enough to order Zoran Lazović to house arrest with electronic monitoring," said Piperović.

Special Prosecutor Miloš Šoškić opposed the defense's motion to terminate the detention.

"The SDT is of the opinion that the reasons are strengthened, because this is not the only proceeding against the accused," said Šoškić.
