An indictment has been filed against former Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnić and Special Prosecutor Saša Čađenović on suspicion that, as co-perpetrators, they abused their official position by pressuring Joseph Assad to make a statement in their favor in the "coup d'état" proceedings.

The Special State Prosecutor's Office announced that after the investigation, they submitted an indictment against Katnić and Čađenović to the Higher Court in Podgorica.

"After completing the investigation, the Special State Prosecutor's Office submitted an indictment to the Special Department of the High Court in Podgorica against the defendants MK, former Chief Special Prosecutor and Head of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, and S. Č., a special prosecutor in that prosecutor's office, now removed from duty due to conducting other criminal proceedings, because it was determined that there is a reasonable suspicion that they, as co-perpetrators, committed the extended criminal offense of abuse of official position and the criminal offense of unlawful influence," the SDT announced.

"The subject of the indictment and proceedings is the joint decision of the defendants to reach an agreement with the legal representative of Dž. A., a citizen of the United States of America, against whom the Special State Prosecutor's Office and the defendant S. Č. have initiated criminal proceedings for the criminal offenses of creating a criminal organization and attempted terrorism through aiding and abetting, for Dž. A. to come to Montenegro, testify in the manner requested by the defendants in the proceedings before the High Court in Podgorica, against the defendants AM and MK, leaders of the political alliance "DF" and other persons, for the criminal offenses of creating a criminal organization, attempted terrorism and preparation of acts against the constitutional order and security of Montenegro through incitement, and to confirm the allegations of the indictment of the Special State Prosecutor's Office against them, which the defendants represented, and in return for the withdrawal of the national and international arrest warrant against him, for him not to be deprived of his liberty and placed in detention and for the criminal proceedings against him to be suspended," the statement reads.
