Montenegrin citizen Ivan Lješković (33) was arrested yesterday in Slovenia, on an international warrant issued by Interpol in Podgorica.
Criminal proceedings are being conducted against him before the Higher Court in Podgorica, due to suspicion that he committed the criminal offenses of creating a criminal organization and smuggling as co-perpetrator.
"I.Lj. is suspected of having committed these criminal acts by, as a member of an organized criminal group (OKG), carrying out criminal activities - transporting cigarettes as goods whose circulation is restricted across the customs line, while avoiding customs supervision, and that, as a member of the OKG, he then participated in the sale of cigarettes, as well as the distribution, concealment and smuggling of these goods from the Port of Bar Free Customs Zone to countries in the region and the EU," the Police Directorate announced.
Further communication between Montenegrin and Slovenian Interpol is underway, with a view to extraditing the arrested person to Montenegro.
