Nikšić police arrested ID (32) from that city, after they found and confiscated almost 800 grams of marijuana, suspected to have been intended for sale, during a search of his apartment yesterday.
"Namely, while undertaking activities to detect and prevent the abuse of narcotics and the distribution of narcotics, and acting in accordance with operational findings, police officers initiated the issuance of a search warrant with the competent Higher Court in Podgorica and, after receiving this warrant, conducted a search of the apartment and other premises used by the ID in Nikšić. By searching the apartment and other premises of the ID, police officers found and seized 761 grams of plant matter suspected of being the narcotic drug marijuana, scales for precise measurement and accessories for packaging narcotics. All of the above has been seized and will be subject to expert examination at the Forensic Center," the Police Directorate announced.
The Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was notified of the event, in coordination with which the aforementioned activities were carried out.
"The forensic analysis points to the suspicion that ID acquired the marijuana, and possessed the scales and packaging equipment, for the purpose of placing this drug on the so-called street market," the police note.
The suspect will be brought to the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, with a criminal complaint, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs.
One person arrested for a misdemeanor
In addition to the above, the Nikšić police found and confiscated a small amount of cocaine, ten xalol tablets in illegal possession and around 0,7 grams of marijuana from three other people the day before. "The activities resulted in the filing of misdemeanor charges with the competent Misdemeanor Court in Podgorica - Nikšić Department, under the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse against these three persons, one of whom was deprived of his liberty for this misdemeanor," the statement reads.
