Montenegrin police arrested 148 drivers during the previous holidays and weekends for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, refusing to take tests, and other serious violations under the Road Traffic Safety Law and the Criminal Code.
The Police Directorate announced that 54 traffic accidents were recorded on Montenegrin roads from Friday to Monday, in which five people were seriously injured and 23 were slightly injured.
It is stated that during the same period, as part of repressive activities, traffic police officers filed 302 misdemeanor reports, issued 2.637 misdemeanor warrants, temporarily confiscated 36 pairs of license plates and removed the same number of vehicles from traffic.
"148 drivers were arrested, of which 51 for driving under the influence of alcohol in the body with a concentration of more than one per mille or refusing to take a breathalyzer test, and 45 for driving under the influence of drugs or other psychoactive substances or refusing to submit to testing," the police said.
They said that 52 drivers were arrested for committing other serious violations under the Road Traffic Safety Act and the Criminal Code.
"46 drivers were arrested in Podgorica, 17 in Bijelo Polje, 14 in Nikšić, ten in Danilovgrad, nine in Bar, while eight drivers were arrested each in Ulcinj and Budva," the statement said.
