Podgorica police arrested ID (33) on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs.

As announced by the Police Directorate, officers of the Podgorica Security Department, undertaking activities to combat drug abuse and break up networks of street drug dealers, checked AP (30) and ID (33) on Cvijetna Street.

"A PVC package containing a substance suspected to be marijuana was found in AP's possession, while a handmade cigarette with the same contents, a so-called joint, was found in ID's possession," the statement said.

It is alleged that police officers learned that AP had arranged, through a communication app, to purchase a certain amount of marijuana for an amount of money from ID, as well as the location of the handover.

The police said that on the same day, the apartment and other premises used by ID were searched, where 80 pills from the list of opiates were found, for which his relative has medical documentation.

"The prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was informed of all of the above, on whose order ID was deprived of his liberty on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs," the police said.

As they added, ID was brought before the acting prosecutor for further jurisdiction within the legal deadline, along with a criminal report.

The police said that the money found on ID was temporarily confiscated, as well as a means of communication that will be the subject of appropriate expert examination.
