Part of the public may have had the impression that Aco Đukanović's swearing in "God and Saint Basil of Ostrog" at yesterday's indictment review at the Basic Court in Nikšić referred to the announcement of a lawsuit against the state, however, it is clear from his words that this statement referred to a completely different issue, namely Đukanović's claim that he did not know who the judge was in the proceedings known as "Limenka".
This was stated by Aco Đukanović's legal team regarding media reports from yesterday's hearing.
Đukanović's legal team expressed gratitude to the media for their interest in and coverage of this proceeding, believing that objective and comprehensive public information is in the interest of all participants. However, they pointed to the aforementioned circumstance, which they said they wanted to believe was the result of a transmission error, and not an intention to interpret the statements from the hearing outside their true meaning.
"We consider it important that this circumstance be properly understood, not for the sake of controversy, but for the sake of precision and the full context of what was actually said before the court. The legal team will, as before, continue to communicate measuredly and exclusively within the limits of what contributes to the proper understanding of the proceedings, with full respect for the court, the media and the public's right to be accurately informed. Once again, we thank the media for their attention and believe that future reporting on this case will be conducted professionally, carefully and in full context," concludes the statement that came from the email address of the Law Office of Ana Đukanović.
The Basic State Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against the brother of former DPS leader, Prime Minister and President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives.
