The trial of Duško Golubović and other defendants in the cigarette smuggling case was postponed today at the Higher Court in Podgorica. The Special Chamber of Judge Branislav Leković accepted the request of lawyer Ivan Šljukić to postpone the trial.
The defense attorney for defendant Ivan Lješković stated in a submission to the court that he had recently been hired and needed to copy the case files in order to prepare his defense.
The next main hearing is scheduled for May 15th.
Judge Leković read a letter from the Ministry of Justice stating that extradition from Slovenia, where Lješković was arrested, was underway.
The Slovenian Ministry of Justice stated in a letter that it would extradite Lješković to the judicial authorities of Montenegro using a shortened procedure.

Lawyer Srđan Lješković proposed at the trial today that Ivan Turčinović's house arrest be lifted and replaced with a milder measure - reporting to the police twice a month.
The lawyer stated that he is the only one working in the family, that his wife does not work and that he has three minor children.
He explained that he has a truck and that he earns money and supports his family from transportation and hiring.
Judge Branislav Leković said that the defense should submit a written proposal and that the court would decide.
