Former Chief of Criminal Police in Herceg Novi Dragoljub Peković testified today at the Higher Court in Podgorica in the continuation of the trial of Assistant Director of the Police Directorate Zoran Lazović, Milivoj Katnić, former Chief Special Prosecutor and Special Prosecutor Saša Čađenović.
He stated that everyone at the Security Center in Herceg Novi was in shock when they read in the media that Saša Čađenović had been arrested.
"You can't find a single employee at the Herceg Novi Security Center who will tell you that someone was hiding something regarding Duško Roganović. We have been fighting against both clans for years. We were all in shock when they read that Čađenović had been arrested. I would be immoral and dishonest if I said that prosecutor Saša Čađenović was hiding something for Duško Roganović, who, according to operational police data, is a member of the Kavač criminal clan. There was no evidence for Roganović, otherwise he would have been arrested. I believe that you will not find a single inspector in Herceg Novi who will say that there was evidence against Roganović," said witness Dragoljub Peković.
He added that he noticed that Duško Roganović was being deliberately excluded from prosecution, and that individuals from the Škaljar and Kavač clans in Herceg Novi were under secret surveillance.
"There was no information on those measures that Roganović was being protected, because those people would have had to speak out about it," said Peković.
He explained what happened after the murder of Šćepan Roganović in February 2020 in Herceg Novi, when he served as the chief of criminal police in that city.
"A few days after the murder, the deceased's mother requested an appointment with me. On that occasion, she told me that Duško Roganović had asked to see me at his house, due to his health condition. I informed the prosecutor and the headquarters about this. I called my colleague Nikola Janičić to come with me as a witness and made an official note about it. Due to the passage of time, I cannot remember what Duško Roganović told me at that time. I know that Milan Kankaraš was mentioned," said Peković.
He stated that he met Zoran Lazović twice in Herceg Novi - the first time when Duško Roganović's brother, Šćepan Roganović, was killed, and the second time when Stefan Šarović was killed.
"Lazović provided us with all the logistics in solving these two crimes, inspectors from the Criminal Police Sector were brought in, forensic experts from Danilovgrad. I never received or had any information that Lazović was cooperating with criminal groups," Dragoljub Peković emphasized.
The SDT charges former police official Zoran Lazović with forming a criminal organization, whose members included Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnić and Special Prosecutor Saša Čađenović, who is accused of working for the criminal Kavača clan.
The trial continues on May 12.
