The Police Directorate (UP) announced today that raids were carried out last night on catering and gaming establishments and searches of facilities used by internationally wanted persons - members of organized crime groups (OKG), and that nearly 400 people were checked during the operations, and that nine were arrested for misdemeanors and drug abuse.
"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'Centar' carried out planned and targeted activities last night in the territory of Podgorica, Danilovgrad and Cetinje, aimed at controlling traffic participants and catering establishments, persons of operational interest and members of the OKG, with a special focus on locating and detaining internationally wanted persons. The aforementioned activities were carried out last night, in the period from 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM," the statement states.
The UP added that, in order to find members of an organized criminal group, as well as locate and arrest internationally wanted persons for whom Montenegro has issued arrest warrants for serious crimes, criminal police officers conducted inspections and searches of facilities at several locations used by Ljubo Milović, Nebojša Bugarin, Predrag Milić, Miško Đurišić, Vaso Vuković, Vukan Vujačić, Igor Mašanović and Luka Gazivoda.
"Uniformed police officers, with the aim of increased traffic control and maintaining stable public order, carried out numerous operational-tactical measures and actions that included mini-blockades and raids on catering establishments, as well as inspections of vehicles, drivers and foreign citizens. During the traffic controls, 147 vehicles and drivers were inspected, and seven persons were detained for committing violations under the Road Traffic Safety Act. 11 misdemeanor reports were filed and 42 misdemeanor warrants were issued," the statement reads.
The Police Department said that raids were carried out in ten catering establishments and five gambling establishments, in which 231 people were checked and examined.
"The police also controlled 26 persons of operational interest in the aforementioned activities," the UP said.
The institution stated that a Turkish citizen was also arrested, who was found not to have registered residence in Montenegro, in accordance with the Law on Foreigners, and that he was handed over to the Foreigners Inspector for further investigation.
"During a raid in a catering facility in Podgorica, several packages containing cocaine were found in the possession of NG (30) and AK (30). After conducting a criminal investigation, on the order of the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, AK was deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs, as well as the criminal offense of facilitating the consumption of narcotic drugs. A misdemeanor charge was filed against NG for a violation of the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse," the UP said.
