Police: Two people arrested in Nikšić and Pljevlja, pistol, rifle, ammunition and Porsche seized

Two people were arrested yesterday in Nikšić and Pljevlja, including a person close to a member of an organized crime group (OKG), and the police seized weapons, ammunition and a luxury vehicle during these activities, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.

"Officers of the Regional Security Center "West" conducted intensified, coordinated activities in the region yesterday, aimed at combating crime and increasing the level of citizen security, during which two people were deprived of their liberty, a pistol and a rifle and a so-called silencer were seized, as well as a luxury vehicle," the statement said.

The Police Department added that last night, acting on the prosecutor's order, Nikšić police officers arrested VK (28) from Nikšić, a close associate of a member of an OKG, in whose possession a gun was found during a search of a restaurant.

"Police officers acted on operational information that a person with a firearm was in a catering facility in Kapino Polje, and they took urgent measures and actions and conducted an operational-tactical raid on that facility. On that occasion, VK (28), KB (25) and PK (18), all from Nikšić, were found in the facility. After the police officers began the search, one of the persons, VK, ran away from the facility, and upon leaving, he threw away the pistol, which was later determined to have no serial number. Police officers caught up with this person, after which VK, as well as KB and PK, were brought to the premises of the Nikšić Security Department, where information was collected from them. By order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić, VK was deprived of liberty on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives," the statement reads.

The Police Department said that officers from the Police Intervention Unit stopped and checked ML (22) from Nikšić yesterday at Trg Slobode, who was driving a Porsche with Bar license plates.

"A search of the vehicle found a small amount of marijuana. ML was arrested for committing a misdemeanor under the Drug Abuse Prevention Act and brought before the competent misdemeanor judge, while the vehicle he was driving was temporarily seized for further checks," the UP said.

The institution said that police officers in Pljevlja also searched the houses and auxiliary facilities used by MB (47) from Podgorica and on that occasion found and confiscated a rifle with an optical sight, the "Tikka" brand, as well as a shot moderator (so-called silencer) and 41 rounds of .308 Win caliber ammunition.

"The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Pljevlja was informed of the event, and he ordered the necessary expert examinations of the found items, after which he will make a statement on the possible qualification of the crime," the UP statement reads.
