Officers of the Border Police Sector (BPS) conducted a regional, extensive and coordinated operational action today aimed at increased surveillance of border crossings and the so-called green border, as well as detecting and suppressing all forms of crime in the border zone, and controlling the legality of the stay of foreign citizens, the Police Directorate (PD) announced.
According to them, during the operation, searches were carried out in several cities across the country, one person was arrested and eight weapons (four rifles and four pistols), 186 rounds of ammunition, marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy were seized.
"The Border Police in Tuzi searched the house used by AN, during which nearly two kilograms of marijuana were found and seized. After conducting a criminal investigation, AN was deprived of his liberty on the order of the prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs," the UP statement reads.
As the police add, during a search of a house in Ulcinj, owned by Đ. Z., a citizen of the United States of America, and used by KZ, also a citizen of the United States, and JS, a citizen of Albania, 57 rounds of 7,65 mm caliber pistol ammunition and one Gamo air rifle were found.
"By order of the state prosecutor, information was collected from these persons at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Ulcinj, and the seizure of their travel documents was ordered by the Criminal Code, after which the prosecutor will take further measures and actions," the statement said.
The UP also points out that during the search of Š. H.'s house, two rifles, four pistols and 129 pieces of ammunition were seized, for which the named person did not possess valid documentation.
"The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje has ordered the necessary expert examinations to be conducted, after which he will make a statement on the possible qualification of the criminal offense," the statement reads.
It is also added that border police officers searched the house used by AR in Plav and seized a "Vagner" pistol without valid documentation, a certain amount of MDMA (so-called ecstasy) tablets, as well as a small amount of cocaine.
The state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje was informed about the incident, as it is written, and will subsequently make a statement regarding the legal qualification of the act.
"The Border Police Sector, as one of the pillars of border security, will continue with decisive and intensified activities aimed at further improving the security of the state border, combating all forms of cross-border crime and preserving the safety of citizens. Upon completion of the action, the Police Directorate will inform the public about the results of the activities undertaken relating to foreign citizens, including the control of their residence, work and movement on the territory of the state," the statement concludes.
