Members of the Regional Security Center (RCB) West have arrested two people for drug abuse, the Police Directorate (PD) announced, adding that their officers also found a hand grenade, a rifle and drugs in an operation conducted over the past 24 hours.
The police said that officers from RCB Zapad carried out increased activities in the region, aimed at controlling persons of operational interest (OIL), members of organized crime groups (OKG) and persons associated with them, with a special emphasis on combating street drug sales and illegal possession of weapons.
"Two people were arrested on that occasion, and a hand grenade, a rifle, cocaine and marijuana were found," the statement said.
The police stated that on Thursday, officers from the Pljevlja Security Department searched the house and other premises used by MG from that city and that an explosive device – an M75 hand grenade – was found.
"The explosive device found was seized and, by order of the competent prosecutor, will be sent for expert examination, after which the prosecutor will declare the legal qualification of the criminal offense," the statement said.
It is stated that in last night's joint action by officers of the Pljevlja Security Department and the Žabljak Security Department, a vehicle driven by Miljan Vojinović from Žabljak was controlled.
As the police said, several packages of cocaine were found during the search, which is suspected to be intended for street sale.
"On the order of the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, MV was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs," the police said.
They said that officers from the Nikšić Security Department, in order to find illegally possessed weapons and narcotics, today conducted searches at seven locations used by persons from the OIL and OKG categories, as well as persons close to them.
"During a search of a facility used by a person close to persons of operational interest S.Đ., a rifle with associated ammunition was found and temporarily seized, for which the named person did not possess the appropriate documentation. The case files will be submitted to the competent prosecutor for assessment and opinion," the statement says.
It is alleged that a search of LR, who is also close to individuals from the OIL category, resulted in the discovery of a small amount of marijuana.
"A misdemeanor charge was filed against him for committing a misdemeanor under Article 52 of the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse, after which he was arrested and brought before the competent Misdemeanor Court," the police said.
