A group of Budućnost fans, "Varvari", were stopped at Ribarevine and returned to Podgorica after metal and wooden batons, a knife and other objects suitable for attack and injury were found in their possession, the Police Directorate announced.
This institution reminds that today, starting at 6:00 PM, a football match was played at the City Stadium in Bijelo Polje between FK Jedinstvo and FK Budućnost.
"Police officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' today, acting with the aim of preserving stable public order and the safe holding of a sports event, carried out a control of around 40 members of the FK Budućnost fan group, the so-called 'Varvari', who had organized themselves, in several vehicles, towards Bijelo Polje without prior notice of their arrival and without possessing tickets for the match in question. During the police control and inspection in the town of Ribarevine, several objects suitable for attack and injury were found and seized from them, namely: six metal batons, one wooden baton, a knife and other objects," the statement said.
As they add, given that there was a suspicion that the aforementioned individuals were organizing and preparing for a possible conflict and attack on other, or rival, fans in Bijelo Polje, as well as the fact that several objects suitable for attack and injury were found on them, they were prevented from attending the match, after which, with police escort and supervision by an adequate number of police intervention unit officers, they were escorted back to Podgorica this evening.
"After the information has been collected, requests will be submitted against them within the legally prescribed period to initiate misdemeanor proceedings for violations committed under the Law on the Prevention of Violence and Inappropriate Behavior at Sports Events," the statement concludes.
