The competences of the Agency for Audiovisual Media Services (AMU) include supervision over providers of audiovisual media services in terms of compliance with legal obligations, but do not include the assessment or determination of facts that are the subject of proceedings by other competent authorities, the institution announced.
They said this in response to a call from Democratic Montenegro MP Momčilo Leković to make a statement regarding the correspondence published in the media between Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) MP Ivan Vuković and the alleged head of the so-called Grand Clan, Aleksandar Mijajlović, as well as evidence in the possession of the SDT.
"AMU emphasizes that it is not competent nor can it act on this issue. AMU is an independent regulatory authority in the field of audiovisual media services, which exercises public powers in accordance with the applicable legal framework. AMU's competences include supervision over audiovisual media service providers in terms of compliance with legal obligations, but do not include the assessment or determination of facts that are the subject of proceedings by other competent authorities," they said, adding that, in this specific case, any action falls within the competence of other institutions of the system.
