Rožajac arrested, cigarettes worth 45.000 euros found during search

Rožajac Dž.B. (49) was arrested after the police searched his apartment and other premises and found 1.450 cartons of cigarettes worth around 45.000 euros, which are suspected to have been intended for sale on the grey market.

"Border police officers, with an order from the Basic Court in Rožaje, searched the house of Dž.B. (49) in Rožaje, during which they found and seized: a total of 1.450 cartons of cigarettes (29 packages with 50 cartons of cigarettes each, of which 24 packages were without excise stamps and five packages with excise stamps from another country), worth around 45.000 euros," the statement said.

In addition to the cigarettes, they add, the search also found and confiscated 24 pairs of "New Balance" sneakers, for which this person also did not have proof of origin.

"A "Zastava" pistol, model M57, cal. 7.62 with 18 rounds of ammunition, for which this person has a valid firearms license, was temporarily seized for inspection. The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Rožaje was informed of all of the above, and he ordered that Dž.B. be deprived of his liberty on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of illicit trafficking," the statement concludes.
