Russian citizen VM (39) was arrested on suspicion of attempting to kill his compatriot EZ (32), the Police Directorate (UP) announced.
According to them, during the night, in a very short period of time, the Budva police identified, located and, on the prosecutor's order, arrested a Russian citizen suspected of attempted murder.
"Namely, last night at around 1.25 am, the Budva Security Department's on-duty service was informed that an unknown male person with a stab wound was found on Jadranski put Street, near a supermarket. A police patrol was urgently sent to the scene, where they found a Russian citizen EZ (32), who stated that in the park of a hotel, after a fight, an unknown person had injured him in the stomach area with a sharp object," the UP statement said.
After receiving medical attention, the police added, by the Emergency Medical Service, the injured party was transported to the Kotor Clinical Hospital Center, where, after receiving medical attention, he was discharged for further home treatment.
"After conducting on-site investigations, and taking operational-tactical measures and actions in the field, police officers identified the suspect VM (39), a citizen of the Russian Federation, within two hours, who was found and brought to the official premises," it said.
The UP also said that, after collecting information from several people, VM was arrested, on the order of the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of attempted murder.
It is suspected that VM, while he was with several people in the park of a tourist resort, after a brief verbal argument with the injured party, attacked him with a cold weapon with the intention of killing him, inflicting stab wounds on his back, as a result of which the injured party sustained injuries as confirmed by medical reports.
"The suspect will be brought to the state prosecutor for further jurisdiction within the legal deadline, along with a criminal report," it concludes.
