Andrija Marković suspected of international smuggling of around 124 kilograms of marijuana

Andrija Marković (33) from Zeta is suspected of international smuggling of around 124 kilograms of marijuana, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.

"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'West' - Nikšić Security Department identified and processed a person suspected of international smuggling of approximately 124 kilograms of marijuana. This is AM (33) from Zeta. Namely, after conducting expert examinations and operational work, police officers have provided evidence indicating suspicion that AM participated in the smuggling of marijuana across the border, that is, that he is connected to the seizure of a larger quantity of the narcotic drug marijuana, with a total gross weight of 123.80 kilograms (116 PVC packages), which was discovered on February 5, 2024, at the Vraćenovići Border Crossing, by officers of the Nikšić Border Police Station I and police officers of the Nikšić Security Department," the statement states.

The UP added that the drugs found, which were seized in Vraćenovići, were hidden in a specially constructed bunker in the trailer of a "Man" truck, driven by Vasko Popović (33) from Podgorica, who was then arrested and prosecuted.

The UP also said that, after consultations, a criminal complaint was filed against Marković with the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs.

"It is suspected that 116 packages containing almost 124 kilograms of marijuana were intended for international smuggling through Bosnia and Herzegovina," the UP said.
