The Police Directorate announced that its officers solved the burning of a vehicle on a beach in Tivat in less than two hours and identified the Albanian citizen SP (32), who is suspected of having done it.

He is suspected of setting his own vehicle on fire.

"This morning, at around 3:40 a.m., officers from the Tivat Protection and Rescue Service reported to the Tivat Security Department that a fire had broken out in a passenger vehicle on Kalardovo beach. Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct an on-site investigation, where they found a Fiat passenger vehicle, which had suffered total material damage due to the fire. A series of criminal and operational-tactical measures and actions were taken in connection with the aforementioned event in order to shed light on it, bearing in mind the existence of grounds for suspicion that an unknown person, using a suitable means – a fire accelerator – caused a fire in the vehicle," the police statement said.

It is added that police officers then identified the suspect as Albanian citizen SP (32), who was found in an apartment.

"Further criminal investigation, as well as analysis of the material and personal evidence provided, determined that the named person, as suspected, set fire to his own vehicle. Also, SP underwent a medical examination, during which the doctor diagnosed an injury to his right hand in the form of a burn. The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kotor was informed of the incident, who will subsequently state his opinion on the possible legal qualification of the act. The aforementioned person will also be subject to further processing by the inspector for foreigners," the statement concludes.
