Criminal charges against two employees of the Regional Water Supply Company: They caused damage to the company and the municipality for more than 47 thousand euros

The police filed criminal charges against Ž.R. (65) and MV (60), employees of the Regional Water Supply Company of the Montenegrin Coast, on suspicion of having abused their official position and damaged the state-owned company and the budgets of six municipalities by more than 47 thousand euros.

As stated in the statement of the Police Directorate, it is suspected that these two individuals have generated material benefits for 22 investors in the total amount of 47.388,02 euros, at the expense of the Regional Water Supply Company of the Montenegrin Coast in the amount of 37.910,34 euros, as well as at the expense of the budgets of the municipalities of Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat, Budva, Bar and Ulcinj in the amount of 9.477,60 euros.

"In the proceedings leading up to the filing of the criminal complaint, it was determined that the reported person, Ž.R., committed the aforementioned criminal offense by, in his capacity as an official - water distribution engineer and advisor to the Board of Directors for technical issues of the Regional Water Supply Company Crnogorsko primorje DOO Budva, during 2023 and 2024, by unlawfully abusing his official position and authority, contrary to Article 22 of the Law on Regional Water Supply of the Montenegrin Coast and Article 3 of the Regulation on the Method of Calculating Special Compensation for Investments for the Construction or Reconstruction of Facilities on the Montenegrin Coast, he reduced the special compensation for seven investors, thereby obtaining a benefit in the total amount of 23.653,74 euros," the police statement states.

Of the aforementioned amount, it is added, the damage caused to the Regional Water Supply Company of the Montenegrin Coast amounts to 18.922,92 euros, while the remaining part of the material damage in the amount of 4.730,74 euros was caused to the budgets of the municipalities of Herceg Novi, Budva and Bar.

"It has also been determined that the reported MV, in her capacity as an official - financial accountant of the Regional Water Supply of the Montenegrin Coast DOO Budva, during 2023 and 2024, by unlawfully abusing her official position and authority, contrary to Article 22 of the Law on Regional Water Supply of the Montenegrin Coast and Article 3 of the Regulation on the Method of Calculating the Special Fee for Investments for the Construction or Reconstruction of Facilities on the Montenegrin Coast, reduced the special fee for 15 investors, thereby obtaining a benefit in the total amount of 23.734,28 euros for them. Of the aforementioned amount, the damage caused to the Regional Water Supply of the Montenegrin Coast amounts to 18.987,42 euros, while the remaining part of the material damage in the amount of 4.746,86 euros was caused to the budgets of the municipalities of Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat, Budva, Bar and Ulcinj," the statement concludes.
