Novi Sad resident MB (25) was arrested yesterday on suspicion of illegally crossing the Montenegrin state border, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.

Border police officers, they add, headed towards the aforementioned area and at around 5:00 p.m. located a person walking along the green border in the town of Grnčar towards the Municipality of Gusinje, after which they stopped him, checked him and established his identity.

"A check carried out through the Joint Center for Police Cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia - Trilateral Center in Trebinje revealed that the person in question is registered as a perpetrator of criminal offenses and misdemeanors on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, and that this person is wanted by the competent authorities of the Republic of Serbia," it was announced.

MB was arrested for committing the offense of illegally crossing the state border outside the border crossing point under the Law on Border Control, as well as for being at risk of flight.

"He was taken to the competent judge of the Misdemeanor Court in Berane, along with a misdemeanor report," the statement concludes.
