Border police arrested DC (35), a Serbian citizen, upon entering Montenegro, after it was determined that Interpol Belgrade had issued an arrest warrant for him.
This was announced today by the Police Administration (UP).
"Officers of the Border Police Sector - Regional Border Police Center 'Centar', at the Šćepan Polje border crossing, upon entering Montenegro, carried out a personal check on DC (35), a citizen of the Republic of Serbia, who was a passenger in the vehicle," the UP statement said.
As the police add, checks through police records have determined that the named person is subject to an international arrest warrant issued by the NCB Interpol Belgrade for the purpose of serving a two-year prison sentence, to which he was sentenced by a verdict of the Higher Court in Kraljevo for the criminal offense of domestic violence.
DC has been arrested and will be brought before the investigating judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica within the legally prescribed period for the purpose of determining extradition detention.
"Further communication between NCB Interpol Podgorica and NCB Interpol Belgrade regarding the extradition procedure is ongoing," it concludes.
