Dražen P. Vojvodić was sentenced to a single long-term prison sentence of 40 years for the murder of Vidak Vujović in 2023 in Podgorica, in a cruel and treacherous manner and for illegal possession of weapons.

This was announced to "Vijesti" by the independent public relations advisor of the Higher Court, Marija Milovanović.

She explained that Vojvodić's sentence included time spent in custody.

By the same decision, Novica G. Đikanović was sentenced to five and a half years in prison for two criminal offenses - assisting the perpetrator after the crime was committed, that is, after Vujović was killed, together with Vojvodić, he set fire to his lifeless body, and for illegal possession of weapons.

The decision was made by the panel of judge Veljko Radovanović.

Vojvodić and Đikanović were retried after the Court of Appeals, following a panel session at the end of last year, issued a decision accepting the appeals of the defendants' defense attorneys, quashing the verdict pronounced on May 19, 2025, and returning the case to the first-instance court for a retrial.

Explaining the first-instance verdict, Judge Radovanović said that the court accepted the legal qualification of the indictment that the defendant Vojvodić committed murder in a cruel and insidious manner.

He then said that the defense of the defendant Đikanović, and based on ballistics and DNA expertise, it was undoubtedly established that Vojvodić committed aggravated murder.

He added that two days after the murder, Vojvodić came to the scene where the body of the murdered man was and that he and Đikanović set the body on fire to destroy the evidence.

The court determined that, based on DNA expertise, it was indisputably established that the gun used to fire the shots contained a biological trace of Dražen Vojvodić.

The court held that Vojvodić killed Vujović in a cruel and treacherous manner, taking advantage of his previous acquaintance with him and his trust.

"By luring him to a remote location in Šteka. Four shots hit the injured party, and between the shots, he told Vojvodić 'don't, don't'," the judge said in explaining the verdict.
